It took sunwing staff an hour to figure out which bus is for us. Long wait when we got cancun airport.
Again when we were leaving the resort, no pick up showed.
No any notification for no show. We had been waiting for an hour for the bus, had to run to the sunwing office in the other building to check.
At this moment he said the bus will not come. Eventually we had to take a taxi at cost 50 usd what the Mexican driver wanted.

No proper communication at the front desk.
No shows in the theatre as told by the receptionist
No entertainment in the evening except a music played.
No service in the room as my room telephone is not working for the last three days. Four time complaint, no one showed up to repair.
Feeling bore in the evening as no entertainment.
Last year I was at the Grand memories Varadero and wow it was great.

On top of the delay and loosing one day of vacation, I got sick with food poisinning spend two days throwing up , heart burns I was not able to eat and was affraid to eat. It was not only me my sister who I accompanied got very sick as well and we came back and we still sick.
My total vacation was a nightmare. We enjoyed one day of it and the rest was not enjoyable.

Our flight going to cancun was delayed 24 times. We lost one night of vacation.
I am looking for compensation to make up to the frustration experience. First delayed 3 hours. I was ready to leave my home and received a message that the flight is delayed again due to weather condition according to sunwing but the weather was ok. The trip was due on the 20 of february but left on the 22 early morning.

Verified ReviewerResolved: Lack of Wheelchair accessibility and service at the Hyatt resort in Mexico
Company fixed the issue and I have been provided with apology. Partial refund and apology
First and foremost, I would rate the Hyatt Zilara as a three-star resort. They are misrepresenting their resort to be of a higher standard. The quality of the food, service, and amenities were not acceptable. During my stay, some of the guests were sick due to food poisoning, and therefore, I was very careful about what I ate. The selection of food was extremely limited and at times, there was no variety of good food.
When I arrived on the first day, it was raining very heavily, and I was not able to use the wheelchair ramp at the front entrance of the resort. The staff had to assist me up the stairs, which is not always safe. When I checked into my room, I was told that my room was the only designated wheelchair-accessible room at the resort (room 139). This room was terrible and not ready to receive guests. There were many issues with plumbing (water backing up in the shower), the air conditioning was not working, and there was a very bad odour coming from the septic system. I could not stay in that room given the many issues and the staff were not surprised that I requested to be moved to another room. My second room (room 242) was a big improvement, but was not completely accessible and needed to be sprayed for mosquitos a few times.
As for the resort property, it was not wheelchair accessible and here are many examples. I couldn't access all the restaurants like Lola Beach due to stairs. I could not access bathrooms on the property due to stairs or doorways being too narrow to access the toilet stall. There was no universally wheelchair-accessible bathroom on site. The elevators were too small to get in and out. Designated smoking areas had stairs and no access. No staff offered to assist at the buffet to take food to the table. Ramps were too steep, and I needed assistance to get up and down. The staff did not have any training to respond to accessibility issues or how to assist people with disabilities.
During my stay, there was a business conference for corporate travel agents, and they were shocked by the lack of accessibility and sensitivity towards people with disabilities. In fact, two agents told me that they would never refer clients to this resort who require assistance and accessibility.
I will never return to this resort and will also be sharing my experience with others. This was not a cheap vacation and I am very disappointed with my vacation. I feel that people with disabilities who are traveling are not considered important or valued as customers/clients.

Trip cancellation
I was told to go to Sunwing Cares. No opportunity there to address my issue.
I had a vacation package booked from Toronto to Jamaica today, February 18, 2025. I purchased insurance for this trip.
Im from Cape Breton and booked a flight to Toronto on February 16, 2025 from Sydney Nova Scotia which was cancelled due to weather. I then drove five hours to Halifax for another Air Canada flight which was also cancelled due to weather. I phoned the travel agent to cancel my trip due to inability to make it to Toronto and was told Id receive a travel credit. Then they called me back and said I would receive nothing because I didnt cancel three days prior to the trip.
So I drove another 21/2 hours to Moncton for a flight I booked only for that one to be cancelled due to the plane crash in Toronto. All of this was beyond my control and I tried every avenue to get to Toronto. Im hoping you can review this and at least give me a flight credit for my trip. Confirmation number 14139****.

We were flying to Cuba Sunday Jan 5th, 2025, 2 hours before we were to fly we received a couple of texts that it was delayed and then cancelled until the next morning Jan 6th. We were to fly out at 7.30 in the morning.
We were forced to take a hotel room the night before we live over 2 hours away from ottawa airport. How do we get reinbersed for the cost of the hotel? I do not see anywhere I can submit a claim for this.
There were hundreds of people at the airport for this flight and we were not given any food voutures or told where to stay. So we found a hotel on our own I just submitted a claim for the cancelled flight the flight number was WG630 and the cost of the hotel we were forced to rent was $176.79 HILTON GARDEN INN NEAR OTTAWA AIRPORT.

Sunwings website and promotional materials advertised a range of amenities and services that simply didnt exist.
I specifically booked an ocean view suite with premium amenities, only to arrive and find that the accommodations I had paid for were non-existent. The suite was nothing like the pictures and descriptions on the website, and when I asked the staff about it, they offered no solutions or explanations. We have flown with Sunwing more than 20 times, and almost always there is some sort of unplanned delay without a legitimate reason. Sunwing will delay departure, causing you to lose any benefits from the first day of a 7-day vacation, so you pay for 7 and enjoy 6.
This must be in tandem with the hotels, as they save money and advertise a vacation they don't fully deliver on at a seemingly good price. It's a great scam!

- You pay for 7 days but really only get 6 with consistent flight delays

Booked a vacation for my family of 4 (myself, husband, 2 young kids age 7 and 10). I am writing after I tried to submit a claim under flight delay and filed a formal complaint but was told that my claim is invalid.
Here are the facts:
- My flight was scheduled for July 27 @16:45
- 1st Delay to 21:45 that same day (5 hours later) due to staffing issues
- 2nd Delay to 08:00 on July 28 (one day later) due to technical/safety issues
Although I can appreciate that the second delay was due to safety, the first delay was due to staffing issues which is unacceptable and within the control of Sunwing. We spent over 5 hours at the airport just waiting with one delay after another.
To make matters worse:
- After we were offloaded from the unsafe flight, we were required to wait for our luggage which took over an hour
- After retrieving our luggage we were required to wait in line for another 1.5 hours in order to get a taxi voucher. By the time we got home, it was almost 1am.
- We were required to be back to the airport the following morning by 4:30 am (per their employees). This meant that we got 3 hours of sleep (at most) and this is how our "Wonderful" vacation was to start
- We finally got on the flight the following day and upon arrival at the hotel at around 3pm, we were advised that they could not find our room booking.
This was strange since I would have expected Sunwing to have advised the hotel of this delay since we purchased a vacation PACKAGE. But it appears that we did not have rooms. It was another 2 hours until we were situated in rooms.
As you can tell from the above, our first (but really second day of vacation) was a complete write-off. We were sleep deprived, tired, stressed and in foul moods.
Keeping in mind that we went through all of this with 2 young children. We were so exhausted by the time we were in our rooms, that we just slept. That is 2 days of vacation gone.
After all of this, Sunwing's response was: Sorry, nothing can be done for you. Had the flight not been delayed in the first place due to lack of staff, we would have found out at 4pm that there were issues and things would never have been as awful as they were.
They DO NOT take responsibility for their issues at all. USE ANY OTHER AIRLINE!!!

Mobility assistance
Martina was excellent. The man who did our original booking was terrible.
He made mistakes on our invoices. Martina corrected a spelling mistake with my name.This person left us waiting for 20 minutes while he attended to his crying child.
He then told us the price had gone up.Thanks goodness you have agents like Martina. She was so incredibly professional.
Have a mobility probem due to arthritis pressing on the sciatic nerve on my back. Affects down mu legs also.

Booked a 10-day stay at Cuba's Grand Memories, a 4-star hotel. There was no electricity, running water, hot water, working toilet, or toilet paper in my room.
After 4 days, I paid for a flight home to Canada. The hotel is infested with cockroaches, bedbugs, and rats (a kid got bitten by one). The country is in rapid decline, the hotel is run by government staff who don't care to attend to anything. They just blow you off, but if you pay $150 in US dollars cash, they can move you to another room.
I'm out $3500 and now am looking to recover my costs. WestJet-Sunwing should have never offered this nightmare.

Item pulled from my luggage in by CATSA. I'm giving the run around by Sunwing
My power invertor was pulled from my luggage by CATSA. A card was placed in my luggage informing me of this.
Baggage tag reference number is: 029225****; airport YYZ; checkpoint location:INT-RIU.
There's no customer service with Sunwing. Two different customer service rep.
and two different outcomes both not helpful. I feel as if they stole my power inverter.

no running water for days, food was very poor, toilets stopped working 4 days into the trip, barely any drinking water, room wasnt cleaned, blankets had bodily fluids that werent mine nor my fiancées, bars ran out of alcohol, nothing to mix drinks with, no toilet paper at any the resort bathrooms, not to mention any toilet paper for our room, we got food poisoning twice, because food wasnt properly cooked at the restaurants that they gave us free twice to try to make up, the food was cold food and not properly cooked at the buffet either, which resulted in us getting sick from it, water was brown coming out of the jacuzzi, no mini bar as promised, cracked window in our room, bars on resort were always closed randomly, balcony lights were out and one was flickering, hotel supplies when asked to restock our room they said no promises, stray dogs on the resort, cats everywhere and I seen a rat in the lobby, security couldnt properly handle a fight happening at the bar, resulting in injuries to the people staying there. - 24 hour snack bar consisted of only grilled food hot dogs/ wheat burgers and they arent there past 3:30-4pm if theyre is even anyone there
- Stains on the blankets ( as in throw up and other bodily fluids) before we even entered the room as well as a cracked glass window
- Excursion that we paid money and got up at 6 am for waited in the lobby the reception told us that it was the next bus turns out it wasnt and that resulted in us not going but missing the only excursion that was already purchased on the plane and now have to wait.
2-4 weeks for a refund. Hotel contacted the driver of the bus and he basically said that he didnt want to come back for us. As the sunwing rep seen that he didnt even exit from the resort
- 24 hour buffet ( false advertisement) but its only open 3 hours at a time and if you miss a meal you have to wait hours for your next one and the food is extremely bland and cold and it was the same thing daily and once they were out of something they didnt refill it even though the buffet is open, staff always rushed us by asking to take our plates, when we still had food on the plate.
- The water was out due to them replacing the waterline (from what we were told when we complained the next day) when we got there we were unaware about this and didnt get to shower for days on end
- They ran out of drinking water.
and when we asked to get our room restocked they said just bring the empty bottle down and ask one of the barman to refill your water bottle.
- the jacuzzi/toilets/ faucets/ and the tv in our suite was broken and therefore unusable
- There was nothing at any of the bars there that you could mix your liquor with it just pure liquor if there was any liquor theyd run out often.
- They were serving cucumbers, coleslaw and things youd get served for dinner/lunch at their breakfast buffet didnt have any fruit nothing someone would want to eat when they just woken up
- The beach bars were never open constantly closed when they shouldve been open
- when youd request new towels or blankets in your room they wouldnt be brought up and it was never a straight
resulting in us not having anything.
absolute nightmare of a trip, we came out more stressed then relaxed from this trip, bar staff would only serve people that were closest to them resulting in us having to wait 10 minutes to get our drinks and not to mention we were eating food and a staff member came out of the kitchen at the sports bar and started picking his nose in front of us, snack bar wasnt 24/7 if they ran out, they ran out, you would have to wait like 30 minutes to get food from there because no staff was ever present, snacks were just hotdogs and burgers and very stale rice. also the maid came into our room while we were naked almost, she came in without knocking or anything to announce herself, she seemed shocked and started counting the towels.
